Flying the MD-82 in a “simple way”.

As a total newbie, I’m learning to fly the MD-82 and to use the x-plane.11.  And, of course, flying a liner it’s not like flying a Cessna 172 in VFR. You can’t take off from the grass track behind your home, there are lot of rules and procedures.

But imagine you’re the last human being on the heart, no more ATC, no SID, no rules. Just desert airports, lot of fuel and your MD-82. Free to fly from here to there, just be careful not to crash.

This is the spirit of the new coming tutorial: flying the MD-82 in a wild, free way, just do it, just try.

Maybe the landing won’t be perfect, maybe you’ll waste lot of fuel, but who cares? You just want to learn to fly the old mad dog, to feel it under your seat, to learn its mood, it’s reactions. Then, later, you’ll read all the manuals to learn how to fly in the “real world”, where rules and procedures are mandatory and even a gallon of fuel makes the difference.

But now let’s enjoy a free flight, from KSEA to KOLM, in the limited world of the x-plane 11 demo version.

Stay tuned, the new tutorial about flying the mad dog is on its way to come.

Tutorial motori in Italiano

Mi è stato chiesto da più parti di riscrivere questo tutorial in Italiano.

Non sarà un lavoro breve ma ho iniziato a farlo. Gli interessati tengano d’occhio il sito, metterò un avviso qui sul blog appena sarà pronto.

Many people asked for the Italian version of the engine tutorial.
I’ll do it, but it will require time.
Stay tuned!

Alitalia

As you can see at the top of this website, the airplane is an Alitalia MD-82.

Alitalia is the Italian Flag Carrier, operating since 1946 and since longtime the company is finding great difficulty.

Many errors have been done by the management, and now we don’t know what will happen to the company. They have 6 months to find a solution.

I don’t know who is the evil in this bad situation, but I have this logo in my heart, since I was a boy. And I wish to Alitalia workers to find a solution to their professional problems, possibly under the same flag.
